Thrilling, frightening and horrifying but has to be the perfect night out for Halloween. Farmaggedon is a must to enjoy a proper Halloween experience if you’re from Merseyside and Lancashire.

The night starts from 7pm till 12pm and is 16 plus. You have the choice of 4 haunted houses, as well as a new addition to Farmaggedon which is a zombie paintballing experience. Aswell as watching entertainment such as live bands, acrobats and characters walking around scaring people and making people laugh.
The characters that walk around are both original and recognisable, from Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise to an alien who walks around the site making people laugh and engaging with everyone.
What was very enjoyable about Farmaggedon was during the time when you must wait in line to enter one of the haunted houses, the characters that walk around keep you company and put on acts such as dancing to keep the experience more alive.
The Four houses are divided across the site, The Beast of Terror is one of them which involves a gothic, satanic and creepy house with a church infrastructure with a beast inside. Secondly you have Contagion which is a clown nightmare. You are surrounded by killer clowns that will make you jump out of your skin, as well as wearing these 4D glasses which makes everything in the house stand out.

Then you have Meat Locker which is in my opinion the most frightening house of them all, surrounded by bloody pigs and being scared into different parts of the houses that involves different creepy characters jumping you out of your skin. The adrenalin rush you feel from entering this house has got to be the best.
Lastly you have The Maze of Death which involves you going into a maze and get frightened your way out of it. It is a good laugh with the people you’ve came with, and the actors will give you a good scare.
Zombie Paintballing has got to be the most entertaining hands-on experience that was at Farmaggedon as it was very thrilling. You get given a certain number of paintballs and can pay extra if you want more. The setting of the paintballing is very spooky and well decorated, and the actors are very professional, and the environment makes everything feel so real. It was truly a very enjoyable experience.
However, there is a lot of work that goes into behind the scenes, this includes all the people that bring life to these creations that walk around and are in the houses scaring everyone. The make-up artists are the ones bringing Farmaggedon the spark of creativity with their love for this speciality and their hard work.
John Earley is one of the make-up artists. He specializes in making the masks and special effects . You can see them throughout the experience such as The Skeleton Blood Bride and Freddy Krueger, which takes a lot of time and care.
John said: “Starting the creative process in July is like having an extended four-month October. Who could ask for better than that? A four-month Halloween is a dream come true for me. I love making monsters. Special effects has been a passion of mine since I was a kid.”
With all the work and effort that goes into Farmaggedon, I think it’s worth the visit for next years Halloween in 2024, and I would go again. Make space in your calendar for October next year because Farmaggedon should be put in it!
